Cottages: Considered by the real estate trade to be a small home of one story, cottages have a story book image for most people. Cottages are the perfect vacation home because of their small compact size. Many vacation cottages make perfect seasonal and second homes.

Although technically different, the word motel and hotel have become synonyms. Motels generally have parking near the room which faces the parking lot area. Motels also used by people on a temporary basis.

Hotels: Hotels are businesses that rent temporary lodging for travelers. Hotels are generally considered to offer more amenities than motels or other rental units. Vacationers also are most commonly lodged in hotels.

Chalets: The words Chalets and Cottages are often considered synonyms. Chalets have a story book image and are usually timber structures often with steep roofs and filigree. Images of Swiss chalets bring forth thoughts of skiing vacations and idyllic alpine conditions.

Resorts: Stacked with amenities and developed in desirable vacation locations, resorts offer vacation resortstravelers a home away from home as they escape the 9-5 world. Resorts range in size, but many offer beach front locals, mountain vistas, and access to many of the world’s most desirable locations. Resorts offer amenities like restaurants, bars, activities and a wide range of services.

 

b&b'sb&b’s: B&B stands for Bed and Breakfast. This type of lodging is generally offered in large residences where the owners’ family often shares their home with travelers. Almost every town offers b&b lodging which is a great opportunity to take an historic look at the unique aspects of your destination. B&B’s often offer a variety of amenities, from daily cocktail hours, family recipe breakfasts and antique furniture.
